I was born and raised in WInfield, Kansas. I had the ideal upbringing, and I feel very blessed for that. I went to college in Pittsburgh, but as soon as I graduated I came back home. I was able to find a great job in Wichita, but I knew that I was not going to want to commute every day. It was a little over 40 miles each way, but it took about an hour each way considering traffic. I did that for a couple of weeks, then I looked for two bedroom apartments for Wichita KS.
I knew that I needed a two bedroom apartment even though it just me. It was not so I could have a guest room for people visiting, because I knew that would not happen. My folks would stop in when they come to the city, but they would return home the same day. Any other family coming from a distance would just stay with my parents, and I knew that none of my college friends would come out for a visit, because we were just not close enough to have a relationship beyond social media. I asked my wife if she wanted to move. We had a very frustrating time with new neighbors. We thought when we bought our house years ago that the neighborhood would stay stable. However, a few of the older seniors had passed on, and their families sold the houses to landlords. Two neighbors had lost their homes due to being unable to pay their mortgages, and they were sold for less than market value to more landlords. When some obnoxious teens were terrorizing our neighborhood, we decided to start looking for new apartments for Scottsdale a few miles away. We got tired of seeing police cars at homes on our street and reading of problems in the newspaper. (more…)
We needed tree removal in Long Island services after our father passed away. He lived in this house, the house we all grew up in, for most of his life. Unfortunately, the last few years of his life my father really couldn't maintain the property that well. Myself and one of my brothers made an effort to stop in several times a month to make sure the lawn got mowed and fix anything critical, but the property still needs a lot of work. We need to put the house up on the market soon, but need to get several things squared away first.
The biggest problem outside is a giant maple that has seen better days. A storm several years ago knocked down some of the bigger limbs and we think that is what likely put the tree into a death spiral. I kept telling Dad the tree was an eyesore and also a danger in that if it fell down due to another storm or high winds, it could hit the house or spill into the street. Dad didn't want to spend the money to have it cut down. (more…)
It was nothing for my husband to come home from work and find me laying on the couch. This wasn't because I was lazy, but rather it was me recuperating from a full shift spend on my feet. I would be in such pain after days like that, but there was nothing I could do about it other than apply heat or ice to the areas that were aching. My husband finally told me that we had to do something, and he made me an appointment with a chiropractor in Chicago.
I asked him why a chiropractor instead of a regular doctor, and he told me because a chiropractor would probably be able to determine exactly where the pain was originating from, and then treat me in a natural way. If I went to a medical doctor, there were probably going to only be three options. (more…)
